Rivulets - No Talking

Duluth MN artist Rivulets is the first singer/songwriter to stop me in my tracks in 2011. Its the same feel i got from hearing The Tallest Man On Earth for the first time even though there sounds are not simular. Highly reconmended.

The Heads - QUAD

Punches - "Give it Up"

Son of the Sun - 10,000

Buffalo band Son of the Sun released a new ep last month "almost not there". At times Son of the Sun sound like New Zealand band The Phoenix Foundation ( ironically there last album was called buffalo ) especially the track 10,000 maybe thats why it was the first song to grab me.
Almost not there has got that lazy sunday afternoon rock vibe too it which is a good thing. Defiantly a good listen and one of those albums that has yet too reveal all its secrets.

Girls - 'Vomit'

Instant classic and thats not just the 66 mustang in the video. Highly recommended new track from Girls.

le almeida - vamos ver o sol

No i don't understand Portuguese but i understand good music. Brazilian band Le almeida have a sound that is not too dissimilar to Eric's Trip if you loved 90's indie rock the first time you can't go wrong here.

A pretty misguided attempt at listing my favorite cover songs

I love a good cover song, another artists rendition can take a track in a totally different direction and sometimes give an average song new life. Here's my rather quick and probably incomplete cover song list if you have anything else please add too in comment's.

1 Ministry - Lady Lady Lay (Bob Dylan)

2 Sonic Youth - Superstar ( The Carpenters )

3 The Clash - I Fought The Law ( The Crickets )

6 Johnny Cash - Hurt ( Nine Inch Nail's )

7 M Ward - Lets Dance ( David bowie )

8 Napalm Death - Nazi Punks (Dead Kennedys )

Unknown Mortal Orchestra - "Little Blu House"

By the way of New Zealand, The mint chicks, portland and now Fat possum, Unknown Mortal Orchestra have garnered some impressive buzz of late is it warranted maybe. I'm a little perplexed as to why Mint Chicks never got this amount of buzz in the states but good for Ruban Nielson.

HUMAN EYE - Slop Culture ( fan video )
