just off elmwood update ( the olympic edition )
Well Olympic over kill is just starting to set in, Tomorrows events include a 300km cross country, snowboard juggling not sure if thats juggling while on a snowboard or just straight juggling snowboards. either way there is great "technical merit" in both options, maybe Shaun White could sub in his alter ego Carrot Top for this one. But my personal favorite event will be the naked bobsleigh start times are sure to improve for this one. Also the mens naked skeleton will not run this year due to the danger involved.
Just off elmwood favorite tracks found during the olympics are
Gold goes to Nocando - "Two Track Mind" f. Busdriver
Silver The Black Belles - What Can I Do?
Bronze J Stalin - D Boy Blues
The german bobsleigh team making there way to the start line in whistler
The Black Belles - What Can I Do?
Four rockin babes laying down a pretty badass groove produced and recorded by some guy named Jack White. Kinda reminds me of a less angry Boss Hog.

Pantha Du Prince - Stick to my Side
From the album Black Noise which i have been listening too for a couple of weeks now and while i like it i don't love it. Pantha du Prince aka Hendrik Weber's 2007 album "This bliss" is still my favorite with the lead track "asha" one of the most beautiful minimalistic tracks i have had the pleasure to experience.

Record of the week - Moon Duo " escape ep "
What do you do if your band has released one of the best albums of 2009. Well if your Erik ripley Johnson of Wooden Shjips you release an even better one with Moon duo. With slightly less repetition and i mean slightly from his day job. Sonic blasts and scorching guitar solos and thats just the first track "Motorcycle, I Love You" my jaw is still on the floor. The three remaining tracks have a slightly mellower vibe going on , turn it up annoy the neighbors and let the fuzz sink in. Highly recommended.

Just off Elmwood update ( the new bed edition )
The saints win nice, that means its the first superbowl parade with Boobs and beads. On a bummer note the sabres are in a bit of a slump i mean we wouldn't want them to win a stanley cup cause in there parade what would we do throw chicken wings. Lucky the music has been great discoveries include Toronto's DIAMOND RINGS fantastic pop music who are headed for bigger things.
On the dub reggae front a new single from New Zealand's dDub with WE ARE THE ONES , i have posted this before but people you need to check these guys out.
For the rock kids one of my favorites from last year Wooden Shjips have a new video for there hypnotic track MOTORBIKE.
A little cross dressing from Home SUGARPLUM and New Zealand's BANDICOOT with there indie charm round out this update. There are plenty of other posts to weed through that you may dig more and thats the joy of music folks.
Also if you are into post rock a new album from New Zealand's Kerretta VILAYER is an album i have not been able to turn off. Its a little hard to track down in these parts so hopefully it will get a US release soon.
Oh yeah i got a new bed!
Diamond Rings - Something Else
Toronto's Diamond Rings a little makeup a fantastic voice and great songs what else do you need.

The Brunettes - 'Red Rollerskates'
The first single from the album paper dolls which today got a whopping 5.3 from pitchfork. While i agree its not the greatest album ever released i don't get the rationale behind such a low rating from reading the review. Just wondering if The Brunettes were some undiscovered swedish band would the rating have been so low , food for thought.
